The work of Sofia Rocchetti explores what we are but do not wish to show: aggression and its multiple forms and colours. Her paintings make geometry, volume and three-dimensionality into elements of a surreal and intimate anthropomorphism. A profound, atavistic and endemic reality, first deconstructed and then recomposed from those signs that find their greatest expression in pure pigment and the light that naturally transpires from the paper support.
In works such as "Lovers", that alchemical process through which Sofia Rocchetti seems able to backlight her pictures is even more evident: a silky epidermis furrowed by the sign that appears throughout the artist’s work, predominated by severe shades of grey. Yet, despite the fact that the pigment is not intrinsically luminous, the work seems to move between the creases of the shadows and the recurring signs. The shadows are generated by that secret process by which light emanates from the work before being captured by it.
In this work, the plywood panel acquires a lighter aspect, becoming a frame, although without placing limits on the gaze.
Technique: contemporary pictorial work, created with the pure pigment technique on paper mounted on a plywood panel.
Dimensions: each panel measures 33 cm x 33 cm. Recommended space between the panels: at least 3-4 cm. Overall space occupied on the wall: 107 cm in height (including the distances between the panels) and 33 cm in width.
Each pictorial work is mounted on a plywood panel to protect it from problems of humidity on the walls where the work is hung; it is advisable, however, to avoid any sources of moisture as the work could become irreparably damaged over time.
The work is mounted flush on a plywood panel: the corners are particularly fragile. Therefore, avoid damaging them because it is not possible to restore them.
We recommend placing the work away from direct sunlight.
How to hang the work: drill a hole in the wall at the point where you want to hang the work and insert a wall plug of at least 4-5 cm in length. Insert a screw in the wall plug large enough to protrude from the wall by about 2 cm. Position the work so that the head of the screw sits in the hole provided in the honeycomb panel.
With works composed of several panels, we recommend hanging the pictures at the same level and the same distance apart for a better visual effect.
Cleaning: to remove any dust that may accumulate on the surface of the work, simply use a soft brush. Never use sponges, rags or other implements as they may be abrasive. Never use damp cloths.
