"Lovers n. 2" is an abstract painting by the artist Sofia Rocchetti created with the pure pigment technique on paper mounted on a plywood panel. This abstract masterpiece is part of the "Lovers" series presented here in three separate pictorial elements, freely combinable based on one's personal vision of the whole. Each panel measures 33 x 33 cm.
In works such as "Lovers n. 2", that alchemical process through which Sofia Rocchetti seems able to backlight her pictures is even more evident: a silky epidermis furrowed by the sign that appears throughout the artist’s work, predominated by severe shades of grey. Yet, despite the fact that the pigment is not intrinsically luminous, the work seems to move between the creases of the shadows and the recurring signs. The shadows are generated by that secret process by which light emanates from the work before being captured by it. In this work, the plywood panel acquires a lighter aspect, becoming a frame, although without placing limits on the gaze.
